A quotation should describe the project being purchased, not simply attach a price to a file. Supplying a concise set of requirements helps the reviewer compare suitable materials, production effort, finishing and delivery needs.
The printable model
Provide the latest STL, STEP, STP or OBJ file and identify its units. If several files belong to one assembly, explain the relationship and required quantities. Mark revisions clearly so an outdated model is not reviewed by mistake.
Intended use
State whether the part is a visual model, form-and-fit prototype, functional prototype, end-use component, educational aid or personalised object. Mention the environment and what success looks like.
Quantity and repeatability
Specify the quantity for each unique part. One prototype, several design iterations and a repeatable small batch may justify different production and inspection decisions.
Dimensions and critical features
Include overall size and identify mating surfaces, holes, threads, snap features, text or other details that matter. If a tolerance is important, connect it to the relevant feature rather than applying an unexplained blanket tolerance.
Material and finish
You may request a known material, but it is also acceptable to describe the required behaviour and ask for guidance. State colour, cosmetic expectations, visible surfaces and any sanding, smoothing, painting or other finishing need.
Timeline and delivery
Give a preferred completion date and delivery city. Treat the date as a requirement for review, not as a confirmed lead time; the actual schedule should be stated in the quotation after feasibility and production availability are checked.
